PV-Ferritin product is based on quantitative immunoassay luminescence and based on paramagnetic particles, which is designed for quantitative measurement of ferritin specific antigen in human serum and plasma using PadinAnalyzer immunoassay analyzer.

PV-Ferritin is used to help diagnose iron deficiency or iron overload. Ferritin is an iron storage protein (with a molecular weight of approximately 45 kilodaltons) in the body and can store various amounts of iron in the form of trivalent hydroxide/phosphate (up to 4500 iron ions per molecule).

Iron accounts for approximately 25% of the total molecular weight. Clinically, a threshold value of 20 μg/L (or ng/mL) has been established to detect pre-existing iron deficiency.

And for latent iron deficiency, this amount reaches below 12 micrograms per liter. If the low level of ferritin is accompanied by microcytic hypochromic anemia, then iron deficiency appears.
